FEMA & RBI Filing Deadline Calculator

Every foreign-investment event in India starts a clock – 30 days for FC-GPR, 60 for FC-TRS, 60 to allot after money lands, 7 days after month-end for ECB returns, and 15 July every year for the FLA. Pick your event and date below, and this calculator gives you every deadline that flows from it – with the days you have left.

The clocks never pause. AD-bank queries, portal rejections and resubmissions do not stop any of these counts – the late submission fee runs from the original trigger date. File with buffer for one rejection cycle.
Prerequisite reminder: none of the SMF filings work until the Entity Master and Business User are registered on FIRMS – and bank-side approval of the Business User alone can take 2–3 working days. Set the portal up the day the deal is signed, not the day the filing is due.

Frequently asked questions

Are FEMA deadlines calendar days or working days?

Calendar days – 30 days means 30 calendar days including weekends and holidays. Only some bank-side verification norms are expressed in working days.

What if the deadline falls on a holiday?

File before it. FEMA reporting is online (FIRMS/FLAIR), so portals accept filings on holidays – there is no general holiday extension concept for these deadlines.

Does a rejected filing reset the deadline?

No – the deadline runs from the original event. A form rejected on day 28 and refiled on day 35 is late, and LSF applies from day 30.

Which deadline do companies miss most often?

The FLA return – because it recurs annually with no transaction to prompt it – followed by Form DI on downstream deals, which teams wrongly treat as purely domestic.
