Frequently Asked
Quick answers to the most common reach-outs
Are these calculators free even for repeated commercial use?
Yes. There is no usage tier, no signup, no per-calculation limit. Tax practitioners, payroll teams and finance students all use the calculators free, both for one-off computations and daily reference. We don’t track usage.
Can I rely on the result for my actual tax filing?
The calculators are accurate to the best of our knowledge of the Income Tax Act, current Finance Act amendments, and CBDT notifications. However, every transaction has nuances – lower deduction certificates u/s 197, DTAA provisions, specific exemptions, and case-by-case rulings. Treat the calculator as a quick estimator and verify the final figure with a qualified Chartered Accountant before filing or paying.
I think a calculation is wrong – what do I do?
Email us with the inputs you used and the result you expected (with the section/regulation reference if you have it). Most “wrong” results turn out to be a misinterpretation of the section (very common for 194C dual thresholds and 194I per-month rule), but every report is reviewed – and where the calculator is genuinely wrong, the fix usually goes live within 24-48 hours.
Can you build a calculator for [my use case]?
Often yes. Some calculators in our roadmap came directly from email requests – the TDS Calculator, the 8-metro HRA upgrade and the partnership-firm 194T support are all examples. If your use case is broadly applicable to Indian taxpayers and the underlying calculation is well-defined in law, send a description and we’ll consider it for the queue.
Do you offer paid tax / audit / advisory services?
Yes – through our practice site at catirumalesh.in. CalcGuru itself stays free and product-only; the practice handles everything that needs a Chartered Accountant’s signature, opinion or representation.
