What is the current PPF interest rate?
7.1% per annum for the July-September 2026 quarter. The rate is reviewed every quarter by the Government of India and interest is compounded annually.
How is PPF interest calculated?
Interest is calculated on the lowest balance in your account between the 5th and the last day of each month and credited once a year at year-end. Deposit before the 5th of the month to earn interest for that month.
What is the PPF maturity period and can it be extended?
A PPF account matures after 15 years. You can extend it in blocks of 5 years any number of times, with or without making fresh contributions.
Is PPF tax-free?

What is the minimum and maximum PPF deposit?
Minimum Rs 500 and maximum Rs 1,50,000 in a financial year, across all your PPF accounts combined.
