How do I register for PTEC and PTRC online?

Bottom line: You register on your state commercial-tax portal — PTEC for the business or professional and PTRC for deducting professional tax from employees.
1. The difference
PTEC (Enrolment Certificate) lets the entity pay its own PT; PTRC (Registration Certificate) lets an employer deduct and deposit PT from staff salaries.
2. In Maharashtra
On mahagst.gov.in, go to e-Registration, create a temporary profile with PAN, select PTEC and/or PTRC, fill the form and upload documents; the certificate follows on verification.
3. Usually both
Most firms apply for PTEC and PTRC together.
