Question
I keep seeing AOC-4 and MGT-7 mentioned for my company. What is the difference between them?
Answer
AOC-4 is the form for filing your company audited financial statements with the Registrar of Companies, while MGT-7 is the form for filing your annual return. AOC-4 carries your balance sheet, profit and loss account, auditor report and board report. MGT-7 (or MGT-7A for one-person and small companies) captures details of shareholders, directors, shareholding pattern and changes during the year. Every company registered under the Companies Act 2013 must file both every year, even if there was no business activity. Both are filed online on the MCA V3 portal and usually need a practising professional certification.
