I heard Form 26AS got renamed. What is Form 168 and how do I use it before filing my return?

Under the Income-tax Act 2025, the annual tax statement (Form 26AS) is renumbered as Form 168 from FY 2026-27 onwards, but its content and purpose are unchanged. It is your tax passbook linked to your PAN, showing TDS, TCS, advance and self-assessment tax paid, refunds and certain high-value transactions. Reconcile it and your AIS with your own records before filing, so the credits in your return match what is reported. Download it from the income-tax e-filing portal.
