Goa Shop & Establishment registration in brief

The Goa, Daman and Diu Shops and Establishments Act, 1973 (with the Rules, 1975) regulates working hours, holidays, leave, wages and conditions of service in shops and commercial establishments in Goa. Registration is compulsory for every establishment, and the certificate is routinely required by banks to open a current account and to support GST and trade registrations. Registration is online only, through the Goa Online single-window portal, and the certificate is deemed approved if no objection is raised within 7 days.

Validity, renewal and penalty

The licence is valid for one year (up to 31 December). Goa provides an auto-renewal facility, and you can renew for up to five years. The renewal application and fee should reach the Inspector at least 30 days before expiry; failing this, a penalty of 25% of the registration fee applies. Amendment of the certificate costs ₹50. The registration certificate is issued within a 7-day service timeline.

Documents required

  • Trade licence / lease agreement / tax receipt or NOC for the premises.
  • Address proof of the establishment.
  • Authority letter for signature on the application / Board resolution.
  • Constitution proof where applicable — Partnership Deed, or Certificate of Incorporation and MOA & AOA (company).
  • Challan receipt for the fee, and any sector licence (food & drug, excise, tourism, RBI authority) if applicable.
