Experience Letter / Service Certificate Format

An experience letter (service certificate) certifies that a person was employed with the company, their designation and the period of employment, issued when they leave.

It is addressed “To Whomsoever It May Concern”, states the employee’s name, designation, department and the from-to dates of employment, and a line on conduct or performance. Future employers commonly ask for it.

What to include

Employee name, designation, department, exact employment dates and a factual statement of conduct / performance.

Who issues it

Issued by HR on company letterhead, signed by an authorised signatory.
